Following the 2011/2012 Flood Event in South Queensland, the Lockyer Valley Regional Council was faced with the task of planning and managing estimated $280 million infrastructure recovery and restoration tasks.

The Scenic Rim Region was declared a natural disaster area as part of the same event with estimated damage of $50 million.
